By Sunday, a cold front will have passed with a blast of Arctic air from the North West. During the day many snow showers, often heavy will affect many coastal areas with some making their way inland. Showers may become more organised during the afternoon across Wales, North West England and North East England with these perhaps spreading into the Midlands later, particularly the West Midlands. During the early hours of Sunday, the Cheshire Gap effect may afect some parts of NW England and the Midlands for a short time. Northern Ireland will be prone to frequent snow showers aswell. The biggest concentration of snow showers will be in the Moderate Snow area with a 2-5cm covering likely for some and this may be on top of previous snow.10-15cm cant be ruled out over the hills and where snow falls for much of the day.
In the Light Snow region snow showers are possible but will be less frequent. It could be quite windy especially near the coasts and in showers so temporary Blizzard conditions are possible.
On a seperate note, Ice could be a big problem across the UK on Sunday thanks to earlier rain, sleet or snow so extra care is vital on the roads and footpaths. A bitterly cold day is expected so not much if any snow will thaw. Surfaces may remain frozen for much of the day and a very cold night will follow for many into Monday.
UKASF will issue an update during Sunday if necessary.
