Synopsis
Very cold air will be swiftly moving in during Thursday with with North Easterly winds blowing in Frequent snow showers to the East. To begin some showers may be of rain in the South East to start but will turn wintry later. Elsewhere wintry showers are likely with East Anglia the worst hit. Some 5cm of snow is possible with more locally and on the hills not ruled out. The North East will have less frequent showers but local coverings are possible. Showers will be heaviest around East Anglia also. The East Midlands will see some wintry showers also and some of these may transfer towards the West Midlands. In the evening a more organised band of snow is possible in the East later with East Anglia probably hardest hit again with further accumulations likely. Conditions may be tricky locally to extra care on the roads is important so allow extra time for your journey if your travelling in an area with snow expected.
