Synopsis
The passage of a strong cold front overnight on Tuesday 24th November, will bring behind it a much fresher feel and colder airflow. Numerous showers are expected during the day with most around the coasts but some inland too. The showers will be around for much of the day and may merge into longer spells of precpitation at times. In the Highlands and Cairngorms, anywhere above approximately 500m is likely see wintry precpitation. In the Highlands particularly, showers may merge and be heavy. Temporary blizzard conditions are also likely. Coverings acorss the mountains are likely so extra care is likely as a severe wind chill will also be present. Local thunder is also possible. Elsewhere a more wintry mix is likely on higher ground. The Lake district should see snow at times above about 500m with some coverings possible. Parts of the pennines may see some wintry conditions though showers may be less frequent here and more likely to be of sleet or hail with perhaps a little snow for the higher parts. For Snowdonia a mix of sleet and wet snow seems likely aswell. The Brecon Beacons may see a risk of sleet and hail at times with coverings unlikely except in heavy hail showers. In summary, it will be much cooler on Wednesday, with frequent showers especially near the coasts. A wintry mix os likely on higher ground with a wind chill effect for many. For more normal levels of the UK some hail is possible in showers but nothing more than this.
