White Christmas Forecast

90% Chance of a white Christmas

White Christmas Forecast Issued: 2009-12-23 21:02:00
Next Forecast: 2009-12-24 18:00:00

Synopsis
Not much change since yesterday. A generally cold day is forecast and perhaps very cold in the far North. During Christmas Eve some cold air will filter back south for a short while and will be round for part of Christmas day. The North will keep onto the cold air but Central and Southern areas will see the colder air breifly. A few flakes are possible across the Midlands and East Anglia perhaps on Christmas day morning which would technically make it a White Christmas. Please do note that our chances are based on snow falling on the day. Essentially Christmas day looks cold and dry for most with mist and fog perhaps quite a problem. Attention turns towards the North West at the end of the day. LOW Pressure will bring some Precipitation westwards. For some this could fall as sleet or wet snow for a very short time in England and Wales but in parts of Northern Ireland and Central and Southern Scotland this could quite readily turn to snow giving some accumulations. This could be locally heavy aswell. More information will be in the final forecast tomorrow. In summary many can expect a dry day with the chance of a few flurries in the south at times but in the evening some rain will begin to move in but for parts of the North snow is very likely.
