65% Chance of a white Christmas
White Christmas Forecast Issued: 2009-12-21 21:37:00
Next Forecast: 2009-12-22 20:00:00
Synopsis
A similar outlook to yesterday at the moment with slight variations. Firstly it looks like the air on Christmas Day will be cold enough for wintry weather for many with Southern areas perhaps losing this during the day with only the North retaining the proper cold. However to begin with cold enough air should pretty much cover the country before perhaps moving away for some. The only real issue to pin down in these forecasts is now precipitation. The latest runs dont suggest loads of precipitation around on Christmas day. It seems most of it will fall on Christmas Eve, perhaps wintry for some also. For many it could be dry with scattered wintry showers possible and perhaps some more persistent sleet or snow in Northern Scotland. Essentially it will be cold everywhere particularly in Central and Northern areas where temperatures for most will barely make it past about 1 or 2c. By the end of the day the South West may reach upto about 7c. The cold air on Christmas day now looks likely but where and when any precipitation will fall remains to be answered.
