Synopsis
Western Scotland-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: Western Scotland could see some of the best of the Weather on Christmas day. It seems likely a mix of sunshine and cloud, particularly inland. The Western Isles may be affected by cloud all day and with some mist in parts. Some mist and fog is also possible over the higher ground of mainland Western Scotland too where it could be dense in one or two spots, though this may begin to lift as the day wears on. It will be quite cool though with 3-5c quite widely in the morning.
12pm-12am: There is very little change expected for the 2nd half of the day. The chance of sunny spells may actually increase especially for where mist and fog clears. It will remain cool though with 4-7c at best, maybe around 8c near some coasts.
-----
Eastern Scotland-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: Similar to Western Scotland, a mix of cloud and some sunny spells seems possible, probably best found on the mountains and towards the West of this region. It will be cloudier towards the coasts though and this should keep the temperatures up a little more. Once again there is a risk of the odd mist and fog patch during the morning but nothing to severe probably. Temperatures during the Morning will be fairly cool at around 3-6c though more like 7c or 8c around the coast. The mountains towards the peaks will be sub zero so conditions may be slippery in parts.
12pm-12am: Once again it should be similar to the morning period though some parts may see a build up of cloud, especialy towards the South East of Scotland. No precpitation is expected though with maximum temperatures around 5-9c.
-----
Northern Ireland-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: It is expected to remain cloudy and dull for much of Northern Ireland on Christmas day with only a small chance of some Brightness towards the North East of the region. South Easterly winds are likely to feed in Cloud off the Irish sea. Some mist is possible in one or two spots with a risk of some Drizzle where cloud is thick enough. Temperatures will be fairly cool but not too bad at around 5-7c towards the end of the period.
12pm-12am: Once again, cloud will persist for the rest of the day with any mist patches remaining too with the risk of drizzle continuing albeit not much. Although it shouldnt feel cold it will be cool wirth temperatures at about 6-9c likely.
-----
North East England-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: Christmas Day is likely to start cloudy for most in the North East with the risk of some drizzle in the thickest cloud, particularly over high ground though this is unlikely. Towards midday some bright or short sunny spells are possible. Once again, some mist or fog patches are possible, mostly around High ground. It will be a cool start with 4-6c for most places.
12pm-12am: Similar to the first half of the day a mix of cloud and the odd bright spell seems likely though it will probably be more cloudy towards the coast where it will be more dull. A light wind shouldnt make it feel too bad though with temperatures peaking at around 6-8c.
-----
North West England-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: Most will probably wake up to fairly dull conditions at first but like other regions, some bright or sunny spells are possible for the lucky few. Some mist or fog is also possible towards Higher ground though this shouldnt be too bad. There will be a light South/South easterly wind so it wont feel too bad outside. 5-8c seems likely to be the max temperatures of the morning.
12pm-12am: The fairly cloudy theme will continue though a few more breaks in the cloud seems likely, particularly towards the east of this region. Temperatures wont really change mcuh from the morning period with 9c at the most.
-----
East Midlands-Snow Risk: 5%
12am-12pm: As the day wears on, an easterly wind is expected to develop albeit light. Cloudy conditions are likely for most with the odd bright spell in places. Some mist is possible towards the peak district too. Some drizzle is possible in the thickest of cloud. Temperatures will be a cool 5-7c.
12pm-12am: As the easterly breeze develops there may be some breaks in the cloud near the coast in the afternoon as drier air from the continent tries to push in. This will bring in some colder air and where it remains cloudy, if any precpitation happens to fall, the odd snow grain is possible. Maximum temperatures should be similar to the morning period though perhaps dropping in parts where the easterly breeze is particularly felt.
-----
Wales-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: Once again, many will have a cloudy start though perhaps some sunshine is possible towards North West Wales which may extend to more areas later. Some mist is likely towards the higher ground and valleys. It could be a fairly cold start in some parts, especially inland where 3-5c is expected though more around 7c near the coast.
12pm-12am: The brighter spells from the North of the region may extend southwards during the day, where it may feel pleasant in sheltered parts. It will probably stay cloudy around the coasts. An easterly breeze may pick up later in the day though. Maximum temperatures should be around 5-8c.
-----
West Midlands-Snow Risk: 5%
12am-12pm: A cloudy start seems likely for many on Christmas Day though some sunshine cant be ruled out. There is a risk of Drizzle in the thickest of cloud too. A fairly cool start is likely at around 4-6c.
12pm-12am: The chance of some brightness in the afternoon should increase a little from the morning period. An easterly wind should pick up during the day too and this should bring some cooler air with it so the odd snow grain may fall under the thicker cloud. Temperatures wont change much from the first half of the day though where it may actually drop a little later in the day.
-----
East Anglia-Snow Risk: 5%
12am-12pm: By late morning an easterly breeze will have developed, bringing slightly cooler and drier air. Therefore after a cloudy start some brighter spells may develop. Where cloud lingers the odd snow grain is possible though unlikely. Temperatures will be cool at 4-7c.
12pm-12am: The chance of some sunshine should increase as the day wears on with the cloud moving away westwards. It may feel pleasant when away from the breeze though temperatures may drop a degree or two come late afternoon with 5-6c most likely.
-----
South East England-Snow Risk: 5%
12am-12pm: The Morning period should be very similar to those in East Anglia. Brighter or sunny spells should spread Westwards through the morning, particularly late morning. A cool start is expected away from the coasts with 4-8c.
12pm-12am: An easterly breeze will pick up during the rest of the day bringing with it cooler and drier air. Where cloud is thickest the odd snow grain is possible albeit very unlikely. There should be quite a few sunny spells, particularly inland but as the cooler air digs in expect temperatures to drop a little in places. Finishing temperatures should be about 5-7c.
-----
South West England-Snow Risk: 0%
12am-12pm: A fairly dull and cloudy start is likely for many with some mist likely towards Dartmoor and Exmoor and maybe around some coasts. There is a risk of some drizzle at times too though not amounting to much. Maximum morning temperatures should be around 5-9c.
12pm-12am: An easterly breeze will devlop during the afternoon which should spread a few bright or sunny spells to parts, especially to Devon and Dorset. Where the sun does appear it may feel quite pleasant. Maximum temperatures should be about 6-10c.
