Synopsis
The Christmas period is expected to be fairly cool and mainly settled. HIGH pressure is forecast to the south of the country, bringing northwesterly winds. Therefore, mainly dry conditions are currently expected for much of the country on Christmas Day, with most showers in the north and northwest. The driest weather will be in the south and east, with some lengthy sunny spells. Snow is possible on Scottish mountains, and unlikely elsewhere. Temperatures are forecast to range from 4-8C in the North, and 6-10C in the South. In general, a cool but quiet Christmas is expected, with snow restricted to Scottish mountains.
